Dragon and Phoenix Project
Building on the success of the 2006 project, Wellspring continued the collaboration with Vietnamese artists to design and create large sculptures of a golden dragon and a phoenix, the ‘mother and father’ of the Vietnamese nation. The sculptures were part of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Hue Festival, televised nationally to millions of viewers. The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) provided funding as a cultural diplomacy project, with support from the Australian Embassy in Hanoi and the Festival Hue Organising Committee.
