Higgins Shops refurbishment
The suite of works includes streetside signage, seating, suburb history, and ceramic art. The artwork content integrates 3 eras: the career of Justice Higgins, the 1970s when Higgins suburb was a new frontier, and the early 21st century, when the shopping centre was reinvigorated. The local school children helped make the ceramic tiles as a strategy to protect the artwork in the future, as the children would have a personal investment in the work. A decade on, people delightedly approach us to say they had made a ceramic tile when they were in primary school.
